Chanel: Not sure how I feel about this...is this a skirt with pants? I like the print a lot but the blue hair and the ugly bag are throwing me a bit.

Design collaborations include Cotton USA, Judy Blame, Nicholas Kirkwood, the Smiley Company and Crown Paint. Louise is also sponsored by the Centre for Fashion Enterprise.

SIGNATURES: “Colour, textures, hand silk-screened specially developed fabrics in woven, embroidered and printed techniques.”

IDEAL CLIENT: “Ultimately someone who is fun.”

LONDON TIPS: “The view from London Bridge, a cocktail at the Manchichi Bar and dancing anywhere you fancy.”

LFW: Sophia Webster

DESIGNER NAME: Sophia Webster

BACKGROUND:
Shoe designer Sophia studied at the Royal College of Art and Cordwainers. She has been working as design assistant to Nicholas Kirkwood since graduating from the RCA in 2010.

SIGNATURES: “Single soles, feminine lines and strong silhouettes.”

TRADEMARK PIECE: “The Aztec open-toe Bootie.”
THE COLLECTION: “The inspiration is a combination of Tim Burton, Rainbow Narnia and Clueless. There is a lot of embroidered hologram, polkadot metallic and hand drawn, scribble clueless-esque plaid."

CULTURAL INFLUENCES: “Music plays a big part in my design process; I can only really focus on designing when I have music on. It’s often an eclectic mix depending on my mood. I love listening to Rinse FM - it's always playing what is new and fresh in London that you wouldn’t hear on other stations, but I also listen to a lot of reggae, 90s RnB and neo soul. My dad is a collector of reggae and rare soul vinyl and was a DJ when I was younger so I was brought up listening to music really loud all the time.”

LFW: Peter Pilotto

DESIGNER NAMES: Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos

BACKGROUND: Pilotto is half-Austrian, half-Italian and De Vos is half-Belgian, half-Peruvian. The designers met whilst studying at Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the year 2000.

SIGNATURES: Peter Pilotto's vision of womenswear embraces both new and classic perspectives on elegance. Otherworldly prints combine with soft, sculptural shapes to form the handwriting of the design duo, something which evolves and is explored each season as opposed to being reactionary.

IDEAL CLIENT: “She is beyond pure classification of age or style, just like the clothes themselves.”

TRADEMARK PIECE: “Thought-through print placements.”

LFW: Tata-Naka

DESIGNER NAMES: Tamara and Natasha Surguladze

BACKGROUND: The designers studied at Central Saint Martins and set up their label upon graduation.

SIGNATURES:
“As the two of us work together, our designs often reflect the contrast of two opposites and reveal the dual nature of the brand. Our collections explore the unexpected; we play with the illusory but always maintain a sense of humour. One of our signatures is our in-house prints that are based on our paintings and photography. We always aim to create timeless pieces for our customers: pieces with which they will fall in love.”

IDEAL CLIENT: “She is adventurous and romantic, with a great sense of humour. She doesn’t feel the need to follow the trends but is capable of creating her own unique style.”

THE COLLECTION: “This collection is inspired by first love set in a 1980s American high school.”
CULTURAL INFLUENCES: “Musical and artistic references play a big part in providing us with inspiration – past collections have taken their starting point from a range of subjects as diverse as the music of Motown, the tribal art of West Africa, Pina Bausch, Slim Aarons, The Maharaja Exhibition, 1950s romance comics and Irving Penn! Anything that we find interesting could trigger the imagination!”

LFW: Nasir Mazhar

DESIGNER NAME: Nasir Mazhar

BACKGROUND: Milliner Nasir was born in east London; he is of Turkish Cypriot origin. He has worked for theatrical designer Mark Wheeler and trained with Jane Smith.

PLANS FOR 2013: “Keep on going.”

Final Pinterest Project Product

Pinterest Project

There are lots of great sewing projects on pinterest and I had to try one! For this project you turn a long sleeved shirt into a cardigan. You need a long sleeved shirt, a pair of scissors, a method of sewing (i.e. machine), thread, a seam guage, and pins. It is also recommended to have an iron.

Step 1) Iron your shirt out completely flat if you have an iron. Cut a straight line down the front middle of       the shirt

Step 2) Use your seam guage to make the hem on each raw edge. (5/8 is usually a good hem length). Do this to both sides and pin as you go. Now it would be a good time to iron these flat.

Step 3) Now for the last step sew along the edges leaving only a slight bit of fabric on the other side of the stitch so it doesn't pull out.

Step 4) Iron out so that you have a proffessional finished look.

*I'll post a picture of my final product in the next post*

Oscars 2013

Jen looks hot in red, Adele looks like she is pregnant still, Charlize had the body of a goddess, Octavia looks the best she ever has, and Catherine looks gorgeous in body hugging gold! The pretty Asian woman looks gorgeous in her culturally inspired dress. Amanda looks old but her halter is adorable! The next dress...I have never seen that lady before and her debut should not have been made in this ugly prom dress... As for Brandi, her skirt is interesting but I thought dresses were required at the oscars??
